Health Insurance Then and Now
In 1964, the concept of health insurance was proposed by Hugh the Elder Chamberlen. By late 19th century, accident insurance became available, which is similar to the modern-day disability insurance. It was during the middle to late 20th century when health insurance came into existence, covering not only accidents, but also routine, preventive and emergency healthcare procedures, and in some cases, even prescription drugs are covered by the insurance.
